Man Utd reach verbal agreement with Sporting boss Amorim - reports

According to the latest reports from Portugal, Sporting Lisbon manager Ruben Amorim has verbally agreed to take charge of Man United. The Portuguese is said to be United's favourite candidate following Ten Hag's sacking on Monday.

Man United are in search of a new manager to lead the club following Erik ten Hag's sacking. The Dutchman has left Old Trafford on Monday, prompting United to confirm the appointment of assistant manager Ruud van Nistelrooy as head coach on an interim basis.
While the former striker takes over the club indefinetly, Manchester United have a list of managers to pick from for the permanent role. According to the latest reports from Portugal, Sporting boss Ruben Amorim is the favourite to suceed the Dutchman at United.
The same reports also claim that the Portuguese has verbally agreed to become United's head coach, while the English club are now in talks with Sporting for a compensation. This is because Amorim is said to have a €10m clause in his contract with the side from Portugal, as per the 'Athletic'.
Amorim has been in demand in recent years after leading Sporting to their first league title in 19 years in 2021-22, while also winning the Portuguese League Cup. Currenly, he has nine wins from nine games, as Sporting sit pretty at the top of the Primeira Liga this season.
