Ex-Manchester United forward Louis Saha has advised Marcus Rashford to prioritise his footballing development over distractions off the pitch. The comments come as speculation intensifies regarding the player's future, with the club rumoured to have labelled him "sellable" following inconsistent performances this season.
"Marcus has to actually show his obsession about football again. He needs to clearly show that he's obsessed and that he wants to be the best player. If he's doing something outside the game, he will understand the consequences," Saha told Casino Utan Spelpaus.
"You can do whatever you want, travel everywhere you want, but there are consequences. If you're obsessed, you don’t need those distractions. He should be obsessed, which will only improve his game," he continued.
While Rashford's talent is undeniable, his off-pitch lifestyle and high-profile image have drawn attention, raising concerns about his focus on football.
"There's no doubt that Marcus has to behave in a certain way. He’s always under scrutiny. He has to understand. He can't just ask people to shut up. They're not going to do it. You have to understand that scrutiny is normal because a superstar," Saha concluded.
Rashford’s form will be pivotal as Manchester United look to turn around a turbulent season under manager Ruben Amorim. Whether he stays or moves on, his next steps will shape not just his own career but also the club's ambitions for the future.
