Dream dashed for Andy Mangan. The Englishman, who was very much looking forward to working in Madrid, will not be moving to Spain in the end. According to journalist Jonathan Northcroft, the assistant coach of League One side Stockport County has been refused a work permit.
The source says that this is a setback for Carlo Ancelotti, who had intended to expand his staff with the arrival of the Englishman, who is an expert in attacking football. Ancelotti wanted his services following a recommendation from his son Davide, as the two men were on the same coaching course.
Andy Mangan has come very close to making a huge leap in his coaching career. He started at Fleetwood Town alongside Joey Barton, with whom he also formed a tandem at Bristol Rovers. He was interim manager at Bristol Rovers after Barton departed from 26 October to 1 December 2023.
Last July he signed for Stockport County to become Dave Challinor's right-hand man and the team is currently in second place behind Wrexham.
