Chelsea's Englishman Raheem Sterling has been left out of the squad for the Conference League match against Servette.
It is the second game in a row that Sterling has been left out of Enzo Maresca's plans, after dropping out of the squad for the Premier League opener against Manchester City.
That absence came as a surprise to Sterling, who through his representatives lodged a public complaint in the form of a statement in which he asked to ‘clarify’ his situation in the team, after having played a relevant role in pre-season. Maresca claimed after the defeat against City that Sterling's absence was due to ‘technical issues’.
Sterling is not included in Chelsea's transfer list, as are Ben Chilwell and Wesley Fofana, who have not been included in the squad against Servette.
Chelsea will play the first leg of their Conference League qualifier at Stamford Bridge on Thursday, with the second leg in Switzerland in a week's time.
