"Maybe I should have made summer signings," says Guardiola

With Manchester City immersed in a very delicate sporting moment, Pep Guardiola blamed himself for the planning of the squad for the current season. The coach assured that the club thought about restructuring the squad last summer and the man from Santpedor did not want to make any signings.

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola took responsibility for the team's poor form and said he perhaps should have rebuilt the squad in the summer transfer window, when he only brought in Ilkay Gündogan and Savinho.
"In the summer the club thought about it and I said 'no, I don't want to make any signings'. I relied a lot on these guys and thought I can do it again. But after the injuries – wow - maybe we should have done it," said Guardiola.
Now in the January transfer window, the Manchester side are trying to make up for some of their past mistakes and are looking for top level reinforcements for their squad, with Omar Marmoush (Eintracht Frankfurt) their main target for January, although the Sky Blues are also fighting for the signings of Vitor Reis (Palmeiras) and Abdukodir Khusanov (Lens).
Manchester City are sixth in the Premier League, 12 points behind the leaders and, with a game in hand, are eliminated from the EFL Cup and in the Champions League will have a vital game against Paris Saint-Germain to avoid being knocked out.
In addition, the club has had to deal with many injuries this season, especially that of Rodrigo Hernandez, who ruptured his cruciate ligament, and players like Kyle Walker have asked to leave in the winter transfer window.
