Real Madrid finally announced the long-awaited signing of Kylian Mbappe. The French striker will fulfil his dream of playing at the Santiago Bernabeu as a ‘Merengue’. Moreover, Mbappe's goal must be to mark an era at Spanish side, and there is no better example to look to than that of Cristiano Ronaldo.

Kylian Mbappe is already a new Real Madrid player. The Frenchman will play for the 'Merengues' next season and will presumably do so with the No 9 on his back. Another former Real Madrid player also began his time at the club with that number. It is none other than Cristiano Ronaldo, the model in which the player from Bondy will have to look at if he wants to mark an era in the ‘Merengue’ team.
Cristiano Ronaldo is a role model for Mbappe, as recognised by the striker himself. The Portuguese set the bar high at the Santiago Bernabeu. ‘CR7’ is the club's all-time top scorer with 450 goals in 438 official matches. There is also a debate about who is the best player in the club's history, whether it is him or Alfredo Di Stefano.
The Portuguese striker joined Real Madrid in the summer of 2009 and stayed with the ‘Merengues’ until 2018 for a total of 9 seasons. During his time as a Real Madrid player, Ronaldo did not take long to win the support and affection of the Madridistas. This is something that Mbappe will have to do as soon as possible, as he has made the fans wait too long, especially at the Bernabeu.
Kylian Mbappe will be asked to score goals and play well from the first minute he wears the ‘Merengues’ shirt. A flying start like the one that Ronaldo had at the club would go a long way to helping him win over the Madrid fans. The Madeira native scored 13 goals in his first 12 official matches. Moreover, his first season in Spain ended with 33 goals in 35 game
Another good start for Mbappe to watch out for is that of Jude Bellingham this season. The Englishman surprised everyone with his unexpected goalscoring form at the start of the season. In fact, the Birmingham native equalled Cristiano's tally in his first 10 games. Both scored 10 goals and averaged one goal per game.
On the other hand, Cristiano Ronaldo was the star of a team full of them and won 3 consecutive Champions League titles, as well as the coveted ‘La Decima’. First under Ancelotti and then under Zidane, the Portuguese led Madrid through Europe with goals at the most decisive moments. The franchise player of the ‘Merengue’ team will be required to appear in the key matches for the titles. Vinicius himself has done just that in this edition of the Champions League, scoring four goals and providing two assists in the knockout stages, including a goal in the final to beat Borussia Dortmund">Borussia Dortmund.
On another note, ‘CR7’ left Real Madrid with a total of 16 trophies: 4 Champions League titles, 2 La Liga titles, 2 Copa del Rey, 2 Spanish Super Cups, 3 European Super Cups and 3 Club World Cups. Kylian Mbappe has his work cut out for him if he is to even attempt to come close to his idol.
