Paris Saint-Germain's French striker Kylian Mbappe won the player of the year award at the European edition of the Globe Soccer Awards in Sardinia on Tuesday.
Real Madrid's England midfielder Jude Bellingham was named EA Sports La Liga Player of the Season 2023-24.
"It's an honour to receive this award and I'm sorry I can't be there to collect it in person, but you know I'm preparing for the Champions League final," Bellingham said in a video.
Bellingham dedicated the trophy to both his teammates and the coaching staff for "the faith" they have had in him, as well as to all the Real Madrid fans.
"I dedicate it to all my teammates, the staff and the coach for the faith they have had in me and, above all, to the fans of the best club in the world. It's an honour to play for them," said Bellingham.
The one who did attend in person at the luxurious Cala di Volpe hotel on the Costa Smeralda was PSG's Kylian Mbappe, who received the Player of the Year award from Barcelona's Polish striker Robert Lewandowski.
Manchester City, who won the English Premier League for the fourth time in a row this season, were named men's team of the year, while in the women's category the winner was Barcelona, who last Saturday in Bilbao were crowned European champions for the third time, the second time in a row.
The coach of the year award went to Xabi Alonso, who led German side Bayer Leverkusen to a historic double by winning the league, without losing a single match, and the German cup.
