The Qatar World Cup has now got its goalscoring king. This Sunday, Kylian Mbappe became the tournament's top scorer. He finishes the competition with eight goals, equalling Ronaldo with the maximum amount of goals in one World Cup. He also beat Leo Messi by just one goal.
The PSG striker went into the match level with his teammate. The Argentine managed to get a brace in the final in Lusail, but with his hat-trick Mbappe finished first on the scoring leaderboard.
The French forward played seven matches and did not score in three of those. However, he really turned up in the other four: he scored and assisted against Australia, he got two braces against Denmark and Poland, and to finish things off, he got a hat-trick in the final against Argentina.
He takes Harry Kane's spot on the winner's list and he does so with an amount of goals that nobody had achieved in a World Cup since Brazil's Ronaldo got the same amount in South Korea/Japan 2022.
