Real Madrid president Florentino Perez praised French striker Kylian Mbappe's goal-scoring debut in the European Super Cup, saying he "got off to a great start" by winning the first trophy of the season against Atalanta.
"This gives us energy for a very difficult season. That Mbappe has made his debut in a Real Madrid shirt by scoring a goal makes him very happy and is going to give him a lot of encouragement for the season," he told 'Real Madrid TV'.
"He is very happy. When he picked up his medal, he was happy to make his Real Madrid debut with a goal. He's made a very good start," he added.
Satisfied that Real Madrid's president is starting the season in the same way he ended the last one a month and a half ago, he assured that his players must repeat the work if they are to achieve success.
"I'm excited to continue winning titles as much as possible, but we have to work hard and long as we did last year to reap the rewards because it's true that we have a great team, nobody doubts that," he concluded.
