'Sport' claim that Memphis Depay is annoyed with Barcelona and thinks he should be palying more. In the first game for which he was available after the World Cup, the derby against Espanyol, Xavi chose to rest him, and did not even try to shake up his attacking options in the game in which they also got two red cards.

Memphis Depay is fed up with what he is going through at Barcelona. He believes he is in better form than some of his teammates, but Xavi has still not decided to play him. He understands that at first he may start by being a sub due to certain other players' quality, such as Robert Lewandowski, but 'Sport' claim that he was particularly unhappy by not playing a part in the derby against Espanyol after his World Cup.
The Dutchman did not even get on the pitch, even when it seemed clear that his manager needed to shake things up a bit and get over the draw which they ended up going home with. The clash was war-like and Mateu Lahoz, who was in charge, gave out two red cards. Maybe, therefore, the ex-Lyon man could have benefitted from coming on and showing his quality once more, as well as getting his eye in for goal.
Aware that he has only got six months left on his contract, he fears that this half-season could be a frustrating one for him. He also knows that the board will only let him go if it is a direct transfer, as well as him having to give up the salary which Barcelona would owe him in the rest of the season. Joan Laporta would therefore balance his books better, helping to recover from the Josep Maria Bartomeu era.
At the Camp Nou, it is thought that Memphis has been blocking interesting offers, which has meant that Xavi is doing his bosses a favour. If the striker is fed up with his current situation, he could start negotiating with the sides hopeful of signing him, which would give rise to a potential transfer which, considering the situation, would please both parties.
