Messi knows roughly how much he'd earn at Barca

Barcelona are waiting on tenterhooks for an answer from La Liga on the viability plan they presented to them. They won't be moving an inch until they get a response, and it's key because they got business to do.
One of the side's priorities is to get Leo Messi back. The club have not made concrete moves officially, and won't do so until La Liga allow it. Joan Laporta doesn't want to commit mistakes which could cost him.
According to Leo Messi's entourage, the Argentine hasn't received any offer from Barca, but sources from inside the club are thought to have confirmed to 'Mundo Deportivo' that the striker and his father Jorge know what the star would be earning if he were to return.
Barcelona, according to the newspaper, are thinking of offering Messi a contract similar to that of Robert Lewandowski. In fact, he would earn a bit more than the Pole.
The side are hoping that his love for the club can make him accept a potentially lower offer than what other clubs can give. Saudi Arabia are willing to pay him around €500 million per year, which is obviously out of Barcelona's reach.
