Messi to meet Laporta at 'The Best' gala
Paris Saint-Germain player Leo Messi will see his ex-side's President Joan Laporta once more at 'The Best' gala in Paris. A hypothetical return for the Argentine has not stopped being talked about, because his contract at the Parc des Princes ends this summer, but the money side of things have always been too big to actually think about signing him.

When Joan Laporta took control at Barcelona, he did so with Leo Messi staying as one of his main assests. Once they looked into the club's fragile economics, however, it wasn't possible to come to an agreement with La Liga, so the Argentinian signed as a free agent with PSG, and a return to the Camp Nou has been rumoured several times.
With this as a back-drop, the President and the player will see each other at the gala of 'The Best' awards in Paris. Barcelona's highest-up man has to travel becaust it's possible, and probable, that Barcelona player Alexia Putellas gets crowned best female player. It would be her second crown of this type, which would be something which has never been seen before in women's football, and therefore a great pride for Barca.
As well as focusing on Laporta accompanying his player, the attention will also be on his re-meeting with Messi. It's unknown whether there'll be hostility or warmth between them. Christophe Galtier's number 30 may have already forgotten that it wasn't possible to continue where he wanted to, that's to say the Spanish league, or he may still have some resentment after there being so much talk about him staying which, at the end of the day, wasn't possible.
In any event, them greeting each other will attract a lot of attention of both sets of fans, who will be looking out to see what happens at the gala. The latest update on the star returning to Catalonia was when he travelled back to see Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets. Some fan's interest shot up but it was just friends hanging out.
