Milan continue striker pursuit with Vlahovic and Hojlund on shortlist

AC Milan may have opened the season with a 2-0 Coppa Italia win over Bari, but their most pressing task in the transfer market remains unresolved: finding a centre-forward.

Sporting director Igli Tare has admitted that Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic and Manchester United's Rasmus Hojlund are both under serious consideration as the Rossoneri look to fill the No.9 role.
Milan are in the midst of a major rebuild after a disastrous campaign that left them without European football.
Tare has already overseen the appointment of Massimiliano Allegri as head coach and brought in a string of new signings, including Luka Modric, Pervis Estupinan, Ardon Jashari, Tommaso Baldanzi, Samuele Ricci, Koni De Winter and Bryan Athekame.
But the squad is still lacking a leading striker to spearhead the attack alongside Mexico's Santiago Gimenez.
"Hojlund is an interesting option," Tare told Sportmediaset. "We are looking at him carefully, but the market is unpredictable and things can change quickly. We know we need to strengthen up front with players who can make a real difference."
The Danish forward, who impressed in Serie A with Atalanta before moving to Old Trafford, was left out of United's recent matchday squad – a decision that has fuelled talk of a potential departure.
Vlahovic, meanwhile, has emerged as Allegri's preferred choice given their previous spell together at Juventus. Yet any move would be complicated by the Serbian's salary demands. He is expected to see out his contract in Turin, worth around €12 million a year, before becoming a free agent in 2026.
Even so, Milan remain intent on securing a striker before the window closes. With expectations rising after a turbulent summer of change, the Rossoneri know that solving the centre-forward dilemma will be decisive in their bid to return to Europe.
