Real Madrid's Brazilian footballer Eder Militao testified on Thursday that he was the victim of possible racist insults at the Valencia stadium and claimed that he was the target of them and that he felt offended. However, he linked them to only a few people and not to the whole of Mestalla, according to 'EFE', sources familiar with his testimony.
Valencia and Madrid met on 21st May at Mestalla in a match that was stopped after Vinicius Jr. reported to the referee that he had been the target of racist insults by some fans. The Brazilian identified at least one of them at the same time to the police.
Then, after the match was restarted and he was sent off, he was dismissed by the fans with a shout of "tonto, tonto" which his coach Carlo Ancelotti mistook in the press room for "monkey, monkey", leading him to claim that the stadium had gone "crazy", a statement he rectified days later, but which had significant repercussions.
La Liga filed a complaint that same day for the insults to Vinicius, as it has done in other cases, and Valencia, upon viewing the security cameras, identified two other season ticket holders as alleged perpetrators of the same insults and announced their expulsion for life from the Mestalla stadium.
In July, La Liga extended its complaint of racist insults to those received also by Militao, who on Thursday testified by video conference and claimed to have felt offended, one of the legal keys to the case, although he explained that it was not generalised insults from the stands at Mestalla but from a few individuals.
