Leandro Romagnoli resigned as San Lorenzo coach on Sunday, the club said on social media. "Leandro Romagnoli has informed president Marcelo Moretti of his decision to step down as San Lorenzo manager.
"We have only words of thanks for him and his coaching staff for their work, dedication and, especially, for always prioritising the needs of San Lorenzo above all else," the club announced on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Romagnoli's resignation came shortly after Saturday's 1-1 draw between San Lorenzo and Godoy Cruz in the resumption of a Liga Profesional matchday 3 fixture that had been suspended in May due to incidents in the stands.
That same month, the team was eliminated from the Copa Argentina, also in the round of 16, after being defeated by Velez Sarsfield. The cycle of Romagnoli, who took over on an interim basis last April and was ratified in the post, thus ends with seven wins, nine draws and ten defeats in a total of 26 matches.
