Brazil striker Endrick lamented on Saturday the elimination suffered against Uruguay in the quarter-finals of the Copa America, but also looked ahead and assured that from now on his focus "is on Madrid".
"Yes, as I said now I'm thinking about Real Madrid. But now it's very difficult to talk because unfortunately we were eliminated (from the Copa America). Now my focus is on Madrid," said Endrick, who started for the Canarinha against Uruguay at the age of 17.
The Brazilian also dedicated words of deep appreciation to Fede Valverde, with whom he will share a dressing room at Real Madrid. "Valverde is a great player," he said.
"I am sad. It's a feeling not only for us, but for all Brazilians, because it's difficult to be eliminated and even more so on penalties," said the Palmeiras-trained forward, who will turn 18 on 21st July.
"We wanted to put Brazil back at the top of football, but unfortunately we couldn't this time," he said after the quarter-final.
Endrick vowed that with his team-mates they will continue to work on improving their form ahead of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, which resume in September. "I hope we have the support of all Brazilians."
