Jordi Alba, in a statement to the newspaper 'AS', wanted to talk about the expected debut of the Spanish national team in the World Cup in Qatar, which will take place on Wednesday 23rd November against Costa Rica.
The Barcelona full-back is one of the great leaders of this Spain team, with whom he hopes to have a great tournament, perhaps as a farewell: "I'm really looking forward to this World Cup, because it could be my last".
Jordi Alba also had time to praise coach Luis Enrique: "He's a coach who's close to us, but demanding. For me, Luis Enrique is the best in the world. It's a pleasure to have him in the national team. We've improved our game and he's taking us in the right direction.
The Spanish international also wanted to talk about his teammate Ansu Fati: "He has all the potential to be a star at the World Cup. He's a player who has a goal, who scores when he has one chance. And not all players have that".
Asked about the partnership he formed at Barça with Leo Messi, he replied: "There are many players at Barça and in the national team with whom I understand each other very well. I do it with Ansu Fati, Ferran, Pedri, Gavi.... But what I shared with Messi was something special. Almost all the goals I've scored with Barça have come from plays with him, with passes from him. And I've also given him a lot of assists. It's very difficult to achieve that with another player, practically impossible. With Messi, it was enough to look at us".
Finally, he referred to the Argentinian star's retirement day: "I haven't spoken to Messi about it, but he can play as long as he wants because he always makes a difference. Messi is the best in the world, I'm not making any new discoveries. He is a unique player".
