Napoli made it 12 wins in a row... after 36 years!

Napoli achieved a milestone in their long history on Wednesday by beating Rangers in the fifth round of the Champions League group stage. The Parma side had not managed 12 consecutive victories for 36 years.

Napoli put themselves on track for top spot in Champions League Group A with an important 3-0 win over Rangers at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium. Giovanni Simeone scored a brace and Leo Skiri Ostigard completed the scoring. With this result, the Italians will defend top spot against Liverpool next week.
As well as securing their place in the last 16 of the continental championship, the Neapolitans also broke a new record. The team coached by Luciano Spalletti achieved their 12th consecutive victory after beating the Scots, a milestone they had not reached for 36 years.
The Italian club surpassed the eleven wins in a row between the end of the 1985-86 season and the beginning of 1986-87, the year in which they wpn their first 'scudetto'.
Sassuolo, Liverpool, Atalanta, Empoli and Udinese will be Napoli's next opponents as they look to continue making history before the World Cup break.
