Alex Balde's situation is worrying FC Barcelona. The wing-back wants to renew his contract, but they still have not been able to reach an agreement with the board to get it signed.
Despite both sides wanting to strike a deal, the Spanish club are unable to sign him down now due to their wage limit, which means that, at the moment, the young defender is only under contract until 2024.
Faced with this situation, several clubs have expressed an interest in getting him on board. According to 'Sport', Premier League sides Newcastle and Arsenal were the first to enquire about the 19 year old World Cup star.
Without going anymore further, Balde himself said his future lies at Barca in doubt: "For now, I'm leaving it in my agent's hands. I always want to be here, but I don't know what lies ahead in the future".
The Catalan side are wanting to get him to sign as soon as possible to avoid him going for an affordable price, but what is sure is that his new deal could be announced in June, when they have more flexibility in terms of funds.
It is the same story with Ronald Araujo and Gavi, who also want to stay for a few years, but they will have to wait until the middle of the year to be able to sign officially.
In the mean time, the Premier League sides are taking interest in him. His agent Jorge Mendes, argued that if Barca need money, the wing-back could represent an important sale. We will have to wait and see what happens in the next few weeks.
