Newcastle crush Arsenal in first leg of League Cup semi-final
Newcastle United beat Arsenal 0-2 in the first leg of the League Cup semi-final. The results put the Gunners in a difficult position in their bid for the trophy as they will have to overcome the Magpies at St. James' Park in February.
It was not Arsenal's night at the Emirates. The Gunners went down after 37 minutes of play as in-form Aleksander Isak scored his 50th Newcastle goal to give his side the lead. Anthony Gordon doubled six minutes into the second period to crush the hosts and put the Magpies in the driving seat for a second League Cup final ahead of the return leg at St. James' Park next month.
