Neymar is likely to miss the 2024 Copa America. Brazil national team doctor Rodrigo Lasmar said it was an unnecessary risk for the Al Hilal player to play in the tournament in the United States next summer.

Brazilian national team doctor Rodrigo Lasmar made it clear that Neymar should not play for the 'Selecao' in the 2024 Copa America, which starts on 20th June.
Neymar suffered an injury on 17th October during Brazil's match against Uruguay. The diagnosis was the worst: torn anterior cruciate ligament and meniscus.
That is why Lasmar does not see it viable for Neymar to play in the Copa America. "It's an unnecessary risk," said the Selecao's doctor on 'Rede 98'.
"It is too early, it makes no sense to skip steps to recover earlier and take unnecessary risks. Our expectation is that he will be ready to return at the start of the 2024 season in Europe," he said.
Lasmar said they have to "be patient". "Talking about a return before nine months is premature. This is a global concept for ligament recovery. It's very important to have the biological time, the time it takes for the body to adapt to that ligament," he said.
