Nine fans arrested for offensive chanting at Liverpool v Man City

Nine football fans were arrested for offensive chanting at this weekend's Premier League match between Liverpool and Manchester City. Merseyside Police confirmed that those arrested are aged between 19 and 57 and were arrested at Anfield on Sunday.
Offensive chants against tragedies are a "public offence" following the 1991 law, passed after 97 Liverpool fans were crushed to death in the avalanche that resulted from overcrowding at Hillsborough Stadium on 15 April 1989 during an FA Cup semi-final between the Reds and Nottingham Forest.
Last Sunday, Liverpool won 2-0 and have an 11-point lead over Pep Guardiola's side in the table.
