After the bad experience at the Ballon d'Or, where he came second behind Spain's Rodri Hernandez, Vinicius can now turn the page. The Brazilian has become the new winner of FIFA's The Best, an award that accredits him as the best footballer of the year.
The Merengue striker has been able to move on from what happened in Paris almost a month and a half ago with this award. A distinction that will allow him to face the Intercontinental final against Pachuca in a different way, in what will be his last match of 2024.
A couple of hours after receiving the award, Vinicius shared his impressions with his followers on his social profiles. The ‘7’ made no secret of his happiness and sent a message of thanks and vindication.
"Veni, Vidi, Vici. Today I am writing to that child who has seen so many idols lift that trophy: his time has come. Or rather, my time has come. The moment to say... yes, I am the best player in the world and I have fought hard for it," began the Real Madrid player.
"They tried and are trying to invalidate me, to diminish me. But they are not ready. Nobody is going to tell me who I should fight for, how I should behave. When I was in Sao Goncalo, the system didn't care about me. They almost swallowed me," Vinicius continued.
"I won for me, for my family. With a lot of support along the way: Flamengo, Real Madrid, the Brazilian national team, my hundreds of teammates over the years... the people who accompany me every day in my routine, those who admire me...", the Brazilian concluded.
