German Football Association director Rudi Voller has commented, regarding the future of Bayer Leverkusen playmaker Florian Wirtz, that "it is no secret that Bayern Munich want to sign him".
In an interview with German television station Welt TV, he said that in the coming months, it will still be "a problem if the boy decides at some point he wants to go somewhere else", although he said his feeling is that Bayer Leverkusen will try to convince him "to stay one more year, until the World Cup in 2026".
Voller speculated that apart from Bayern there will also be "two or three top clubs who will be in the race" for the player. Florian Wirtz is one of the leaders of Xabi Alonso's Bayer Leverkusen, with whom he has a contract until 2027.
He is also one of the stars of Julian Nagelsmann's new German national team, where he has been given a new lease of life after Euro 2024.
