The Equatorial Guinea Federation announced the suspension of Emilio Nsue and Iban Salbador for "indiscipline". Hours later, both players have explained their version of events, blaming the directors directly for internal conflicts and unfulfilled promises.

Equatorial Guinea's Africa Cup of Nations has had two faces: the sporting one, in which the national team was able to reach the round of 16 after a great group stage, and the one it has shown beyond the field of play. The latter was affected by the Federation's announcement that Emilio Nsue, the tournament's star player, and Iban Salvador had been dropped from the team. They, outraged by the news, wanted to give their version in 'Africa Futbolera'.
"They have dropped me without explanation and they have invented an illegal internal regime. They have publicly humiliated me," began an angry Nsue, who listed these alleged facts that have led part of the squad to be against the Equatorial Guinea Federation. As in any major tournament, for this AFCON, there was also talk in Equatorial Guinea about financial gain: "In Cameroon, this same board, because it is not just the president, these 's*ckers', cancers and corrupt people took a million euros".
"They promised us, because we wanted to be players and protagonists in that million euros, that this money would go to the local league, to improve football in our country. We said that was very good. At the meeting there was his excellency, the vice-president, the minister, who came and made a fool of himself. Six budget sheets because they have doubled it, tripled it...", he said.
Nsue strongly called for changes in the organisational chart: "There has to be a restructuring because they want to put in their people, who don't work, get paid and take money. It's a vicious wheel of corrupt, liars and thieves. That's what these people are.
He gave an example of these facts that have led the Intercity player to denounce this situation: "Instead of playing two matches to climb the FIFA ranking and have more options in the African Cup in Morocco, what they do is that they take us to play against the Aragon national team, which is a Community of Spain. That is the intellectual level of these illiterates and thieves that we have to put up with. But my impotence is that I cannot prove it. In my 12 years, this has been the worst. The greatest humiliation".
In his lengthy interview, Nsue said: "They have falsified the vaccination card for the AFCON. They take money everywhere. Elias is the one I hate the most because he's been a physiotherapist for years and he's a snitch who only wants to separate the group. I'm going to go after you, you are the worst in Equatorial Guinea. It's either you or us, we're going to go all the way, you corrupt, cancerous, scoundrels".
