Mexico's veteran goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa, who has 151 international caps to his name, says that despite being 39 years old and not having been called up by Javier Aguirre and Rafa Marquez since they took charge of the Mexican national team in July, he wants "to be at the next World Cup" to be played in 2026.
The goalkeeper, who came to share a dressing room with Rafa Marquez, was presented on Tuesday by his new club AVS of the Portuguese League. Ochoa said publicly that he feels "well, physically and mentally" to help both his new team and the national team.
Although he had offers from other less competitive leagues than Portugal, he finally opted for Portuguese football because his compatriots, such as Hector Herrera and Raul Jimenez, always spoke to him about the "very good level" of Portuguese football.
The veteran Mexican international, who is the same age as Cristiano Ronaldo and Luka Modric, also stressed that he will bring to his new team the "example of work", which he considers "the important part of the most experienced".
