Ajax drew 1-1 against Volendam in the Eredivisie. The Dutch team did not play a good clash and reached their sixth consecutive match without a victory.
As a result, the board took the decision to sack coach Alfred Schreuder, who failed to continue the good run that Erik ten Hag had achieved before leaving for United.
"Ajax have sacked Alfred Schreuder. His contract was valid until June 2024, but will now be terminated immediately. Lack of team organisation and points lost in the league are the main reasons for this decision," the club wrote.
"It is a painful decision, but also a necessary one. After a good start of the season, we lost a lot of games. We lost a lot of points in the last weeks and unfortunately we didn't see any progress," Edwin van der Sar said.
For this reason, the Dutch club will have to look for a new manager in the next few hours.
