It's official. Antonio Conte is the new Napoli coach for next season and until June 2027. What was an open secret was confirmed on Wednesday.
"SSC Napoli welcomes Antonio Conte, who takes over as first-team coach after signing a contract that binds him to the club until 30 June 2027," Napoli said in a statement.
The club is thus putting its trust in a winning coach. Conte already knows what it is like to win the Scudetto with both Juventus and Inter Milan.
It was Inter who were Conte's last Italian team before he left for the Premier League, where he spent a season and a half at the helm of Tottenham.
"I am very proud that the new Napoli coach is Antonio Conte. He is a top level coach, a leader with whom I am sure that the necessary refoundation can begin once the cycle that led us to win the Scudetto last year is over. After many seasons at the top of Italian football, today opens a new and important chapter in the history of Napoli," said Aurelio de Laurentiis, the club's president.
Conte also gave his first words as Napoli coach: "It's a place of global importance. I am happy and excited about the idea of sitting on the blue bench. I can certainly promise one thing: I will do everything I can for the growth of the team and the club. My commitment, together with that of my staff, will be total".
