OFFICIAL: Antony signs for Betis on loan after failed United stint

Antony is ready to begin a new chapter in his football career after completing his loan move to Betis on Saturday. Having reached an agreement on terms, the Brazilian will play for the Spanish side until the end of the season and will formally be back at Man United in June 2025 as no buy clause has been included in the deal.
Man United announced the arrival of Antony in the summer of 2022 after a deal had been finalised with Ajax for €95million move. However, what was meant to be one of the most exciting transfers in recent years turned out to be one of United's most ruinous signings of all time. During his two-and-a-half-year spell at United, the 24-year-old only managed 12 goals and 5 assists in all competitions.
With just a single goal and no assist to his name in 14 appearances this season, Antony will be looking to revive his career with Real Betis and rediscover the form he once had at Ajax. Before leaving for United, Antony scored 12 goals and provided 10 assists in 33 games during his last full campaign with the Dutch giants.
Having failed to meet expectations under Erik ten Hag and Ruben Amorim's United squads, the winger will now get a fresh start under Manuel Pellegrini. The 'Verdiblancos' currently find themselves in 12th place in La Liga and are on course to for qualifications in the Conference League playoffs. That said, their Copa del Rey journey recently came to an end as they were knocked out in the last 16 by Barcelona.
