OFFICIAL: Araujo signs new Barcelona deal until 2031

Ronald Araujo's last few weeks at Barcelona have been marked by uncertainty. Just when it looked like the Uruguayan centre-back wanted to end his time as a ‘Cule’ and start a new experience in Italy by joining Juventus, Fabrizio Romano confirmed that the 25-year-old defender had decided to stay at the club.
After a meeting with director of reportivo Deco, Araujo decided that the best thing for him was to commit himself to the Catalan club for the long term and finally the ‘Cules’ announced on Thursday the renewal of one of their captains. Araujo thus puts pen to paper on a six-year contract with Barcelona, which means he will be committed to the club until 2031.
"FC Barcelona and Ronald Araujo have reached an agreement on an extension to the player's contract, tying him to the club through to 30 June 2031," reads the statement.
The Uruguayan centre-back, who joined Barcelona in 2018 from Boston River for €1.7m, is in his sixth season with Barcelona's first team, having already made 155 official appearances for the club, scoring eight goals and providing six assists.
