Aston Villa have successfully negotiated the loan deal for Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Asensio, strengthening their squad for the remainder of the 2024/25 season. The Premier League club have agreed to cover Asensio's full wages until June, with PSG agreeing to a straight loan deal with no option to buy.
"Aston Villa is delighted to announce the loan signing of three-time Champions League winner Marco Asensio from Paris Saint-Germain," said Villa in a statement.
The move comes as Villa manager Unai Emery looks to bolster his attacking options, with the club currently eighth in the Premier League and competing in the last 16 of the Champions League.
Asensio's arrival follows the recent sale of Colombian striker Jhon Duran to Al-Nassr for €77m, providing financial flexibility for this loan deal. The transfer of Asensio along with the arrival of Marcus Rashford represents a double boost for the Villans.
The Spanish international has struggled to find playing time at PSG this season, making just 16 appearances in which he scored two goals and provided five assists.
