Six months after his free transfer to Atletico Madrid from Leicester, Turkish international defender Caglar Soyuncu leaves the Spanis side, on loan until the end of the season to Fenerbahce after making only 9 appearances, only 2 as a starter, and 214 minutes under Diego Simeone.
"I am happy and excited to be here. I want to join the team as soon as possible and I want to give my best and help the team. My objectives and those of the club are to win titles. We have a good team. I look forward to joining them. It will also be my first experience in the Turkish league. I am also excited about that," Soyuncu told Fenerbahce's official media after signing his loan until 30th June.
The 27-year-old, who has a contract with the 'Colchoneros' until 2027, is the third player with the fewest minutes this season in the Madrid squad, ahead of Reinildo Mandava, who recovered in November from a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee, and Thomas Lemar, who has been injured since 16th September. The Mozambican has played 107 minutes this season while the Frenchman has played 116 minutes.
Since the last few days, it was a departure that was already expected. He is the third departure from the squad since the start of the season, along with Ivo Grbic (Sheffield United) and Javi Galan, also on loan, in his case to Real Sociedad. In terms of new signings, Horatiu Moldovan has arrived to replace Ivo Grbic from Rapid Bucharest, Arthur Vermeeren to strengthen the midfield and Moise Kean will join the club on Monday to increase the number of attackers.
