Barca remains firm in its desire to continue to give prominence to La Masia and, proof of this is the pampering it has with those players who make it to the first team. Along with Lamine Yamal, another player who has had some prominence with Xavi Hernandez this season is Hector Fort, who was awaiting a contract renewal. Finally, it has been made official this Tuesday with the new signature.
The Catalan giants have secured the future of the defender, who has played under Xavi Hernandez at left-back this season, until June 2026. That means at least two more years. The signing took place at a ceremony attended by Joan Laporta, Rafa Yuste, Deco and Joan Soler, the latter responsible for youth football at the club.
Fort joined the ‘Cule’ discipline in 2013-14 as a pre-benjamin, securing his future at Barcelona after making 10 appearances for the first team at the age of 17. Seven in La Liga, two in the Copa del Rey and one in the Champions League. He also made two assists in the domestic competition.
Beyond the end of the season in the first team and now his renewal, the season is not over for Hector Fort. The defender will be part of Barca Atletic, under the orders of Rafa Marquez, to be one more reinforcement for the ‘playoff’ of promotion to the Second Division. In the first round, the ‘Cule’ reserve team will face UD Ibiza.
