Barcelona announced the arrival of Hansi Flick. The former Germany coach takes over from Xavi Hernandez, has signed a contract until 30th June 2026 and will be presented on Thursday.
After all the turmoil with Joan Laporta, the ‘Cule’ club can start planning for the 2024-25 season with renewed strength. A two-season agreement with which the Barcelona side want to return to winning titles, objectives that were not achieved this season.
Hansi Flick was the executioner in Lisbon with that famous 2-8 defeat by Bayern Munich against Barcelona on 14th August 2020 in the quarter-finals of the Champions League marked by the coronavirus pandemic. Four years later, history has decided to change sides.
In the year of his return to the Camp Nou Spotify, the German has the difficult task of restoring hope to a project that continues to falter. He needs the stability that Xavi Hernandez failed to bring because of all the extra-sporting turmoil. The one who went from ratification to dismissal.
Hansi Flick arrives at Barcelona after his inactivity and after leading Bayern Munich in 86 official matches and 16 matches in charge of Germany, a team with which he failed to get past the group stage at the World Cup in Qatar.
A coach who generally bases his game on a 4-2-3-1 formation. We will have to wait to see if he will implement this ecosystem at ‘Can Barca’. Or, if not, he will invent a new methodology with a team forced to rise from the ashes after burying the hatchet.
