OFFICIAL: Barcelona gem Marc Guiu joins Chelsea

The transfer window has only just officially begun and Chelsea have already made their move. The London club announced on Monday the signing of young Marc Guiu, one of the most prolific talents of Barcelona youth academy La Masia, after paying his release clause: 6 million euros.
"Guiu is Chelsea", read the British team's brief statement on their social profiles. Already on the website, the club announced that the player has signed for the next 5 seasons, that is, until 2029 and has the option to extend his contract for another year (2030).
'Mundo Deportivo' already pointed out that the young player passed the relevant medical examination with Chelsea last week. In the end, the deal was finalized on July 1st, a day on which Barcelona lost a player who aims very high for how young he is -18 years old- and for what he can give in the future.
"It is an immense joy to sign for Chelsea. I had trouble sleeping before the trip here because I was so excited. Ever since I was a little boy, my dream was to play in the Premier League. Now I have the opportunity to come here to Chelsea and I will work to the maximum to achieve success with the club," were the first words of Marc Guiu's message.
Barcelona now have to take the blow of losing a promising player, who even played 7 games with the first team during the 2023-24 season and who also scored two goals. The striker, who was part of the 'Cules' reserve team, played 17 games with them, in which he scored 6 goals and 2 assists.
