It was an open secret and now it is fully confirmed. Dean Huijsen is now a Bournemouth player, a team that will pay 15.2 million euros for his transfer. Juventus will take almost all the money except 228,000 euros that will go to Malaga. This is due to FIFA's solidarity mechanism that looks after the clubs where the players were trained.
Andoni Iraola thus gets the 19-year-old central defender, who was born in the Netherlands and has Spanish nationality. He was capped by the Dutch from U17 to U19, but chose ‘la Roja’ for the U21.
Huijsen left Malaga's youth team in 2021 and arrived in Turin. He went through the ‘Bianconeri’ youth ranks until making his debut with the first team last season, in the ‘Vecchia Signora’ victory over Milan by 0-1. The defender came on in the 78th minute for Gatti to help keep the score level. It was his first and only appearance for the Italian side.
In January, he looked for more playing time at Roma, club that paid 650.000 euros for a 6 months loan. It didn't go badly for Huijsen, who played 13 Serie A games and one Coppa Italia game and even scored 2 goals in the domestic championship. Now, the Premier League is an exciting challenge for the centre-back, who, for the moment, faces competition from Ukraine's Illia Zabarnyi, Argentina's Marcos Senesi, Welshman Chris Mepham and England's James Hill.
