Enzo Maresca will continue to count on Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, but at Chelsea. The key figure in their midfield at Leicester City, who returned to the Premier League as Championship leaders in the 2023-24 season, has signed a six-season contract at Stamford Bridge. The deal, according to specialist journalist Fabrizio Romano, is worth around 30 million euros and opens the door to the departure of young Michael Golding to the Foxes in parallel negotiations.
Under this coaching staff, who will keep the midfielder in a darker blue, he started 45 of the 51 appearances he made. His tally of 12 goals and 15 assists last season sets him apart as one of the talents of the moment despite the fact that, at the age of 25, he has never before attracted so much attention. He is a home-grown player and, in his still short career, has also had loan spells at Blackpool and Luton Town.
In fact, until the age of 21, he played for the youth ranks of the club he is now leaving. He made his breakthrough especially after his loan spell with the Hatters, since when he has never been out of a starting berth. Dean Smith was the first manager to put his faith in him, but he only had time to put his name in his starting line-up twice, although he also brought him on for two more games.
Dewsbury-Hall, in other circumstances, would face this new spell at Chelsea as a bit-part player. With Enzo Maresca's confidence, he is likely to be given the chance to show whether he is capable of readapting to the British top flight. He already knows it from the 22-23 and 21-22 seasons, that's for sure. It was in the summer of 2022 that he experienced Leicester's most recent relegation, where he stayed on to fight for promotion.
