Chelsea have managed to offload Romelu Lukaku for another season, just days before the transfer window closed. This season, the Belgian joins Jose Mourniho's Roma, where he will feature for the 2023-24 campaign after moves to Juventus and Inter Milan both fell through.
The Italian press has reported that the Serie A side will pay the Blues just under 6 million euros, and the striker will be paid 7.5 million euros as a salary.
The 30-year-old will reunite with Mourinho for the third time in his career, as he played under the Portuguese coach at Chelsea and Manchester United.
Having spent last season on loan with Inter, he had been pegged to return to the 'Nerazzuri' following a successful season that saw him net 14 times for his former club. However, the deal died as the club accused him of entering talks with Juve and walked away from talks with Mauricio Pochettino's side.
"Romelu Lukaku has completed a season-long loan move to Serie A club AS Roma. Lukaku will link up in the Italian capital with former Chelsea head coach Jose Mourinho, who guided Roma to the Europa League final last season," the Blues wrote on their website.
