The Spanish national team will be looking to clinch top spot in their Nations League group tonight at the Parken Stadion in Copenhagen against Denmark. Hours before the match, during the morning, the Royal Federation published the list of squad numbers for the match in a statement in which it was announced that Luis de la Fuente has drawn up a 23-man squad from which Pau Cubarsi, Bryan Gil and Bryan Zaragoza have been left out.
The Barcelona centre-back had come in because of injury to Aston Villa defender Pau Torres. He had been, in the first instance, in the squad that played against Denmark and Serbia a month ago, although he had only played a few minutes against Dragan Stojkovic's side. On this occasion, the coach of ‘la Roja’ had opted for rest.
The Girona striker, on loan from Tottenham Hotspur this summer, suffers another setback, as on the previous occasion, the coach had called on him due to a physical setback for Ferran Torres and, in the end, he had not been able to stay in the training camp for the same reason. Now, he is looking forward to the head-to-head with Switzerland, for which the access to the final four through the 1st place could already be decided, in order to have time on the pitch.
The Osasuna winger, owned by Bayern Munich, faced the same situation in October, with the clock ticking, as Pau Cubarsi. He only sat on the bench for the Denmark game and came on late in the game against Serbia. After a busy month in which he started four times for the Pamplona side and put in some notable performances, including a brace of assists against Real Sociedad, he will have to wait for further opportunities.
