Just a few days after making his Ligue 1 debut, Georges Mikautadze is heading to the Netherlands to join Ajax Amsterdam. The Lyon-born Georgian international has signed a five-year contract worth €19 million, including bonuses.
After joining FC Metz's professional team in 2019, he was loaned out to Seraing (Belgium), where he scored 19 goals in 21 league games to help the club climb back into the top flight. On his return to Metz, his spell at the club was a similar one, with 23 league goals and 8 assists in Ligue 2.
The 22-year-old has already scored twice (against Marseille and Clermont) and provided an assist (against Rennes) in three Ligue 1 games.
He will play in an European competition for the first time in his career in September, most likely in the Europa League - Ajax won their first leg play-off 4-1 at Ludogorets - and has reached a major milestone.
