Txiki Begiristain has decided to step aside and will not continue as Manchester City's director of football. He will step down at the end of the 2024/25 season.
"Following a trophy-laden twelve years at the Etihad Stadium, Txiki will leave his current post following the Club’s involvement in this summer’s FIFA Club World Cup and will be succeeded by Hugo Viana of Sporting CP," Manchester City wrote on their website.
Hugo Viana, currently at Sporting Lisbon, will work side by side for a few months with Txiki Begiristain with the aim of learning how the institution works. It will undoubtedly be a big change for Manchester City, who are relying on Viana, who is only 41 years old, to continue to bring joy to the fans.
