Tiago Santos' season looks to be over as Lille confirm the Portuguese defender has ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee during training. Lille released an official statement on Wednesday announcing that the 22-year-old will now undergo surgery.

Lille have confirmed on Wednesday that Portuguese defender Tiago Santos has suffured an ACL injury during Tuesday's training session. The player's season looks to be over as Lille expect him to face a lengthy period on the sidelines.
"Our full-back Tiago Santos suffered an injury to his left knee during training on Tuesday the 15th October," Lille revealed via a post on their official X account. "Following tests, we can confirm the player has suffered a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament, which will require surgery in the next few days."
The French club end their statement with a message of support towards the defender. "22-year old Tiago Santos will be unavailable for several months. LOSC wishes to send its full support to its player. We will be alongside him as much as possible to ensure the best and the quickest of recoveries!"
The defender also shared the heartbreaking news via a post on his socials. "Unfortunately, I got an injury that will keep me from doing what I love most for the rest of the season. One of the toughest moments of my life and career. I appreciate the support and messages of strength that have been sent to me. Now, I'm focusing on my recovery so that I can come back better and stronger," he said.
Tiago Santos was in the midst of his second season at Lille before the season-ending injury. He played for Estoril in Portugal before joining the Ligue 1 side last summer for €6.5m. As the players awaits surgery, Lille see themselves facing Monaco on Friday to kick off matchday 8 of the league following the end of the international break.
