OFFICIAL: Mario Hermoso joins Roma

New stage for Mario Hermoso. The former Atletico Madrid player became this Monday a new player of Roma, team to which he arrived as a free agent, thus closing the busy summer market 'Giallorossa' in the section of central defenders.
"AS Roma are delighted to announce that Mario Hermoso has joined the club. The left-footed defender, 29, has made over 300 professional appearances as a centre-back and left-back."
The Italians' new defender, who will begin his first experience outside Spain after playing for Espanyol (2018-19) and Atletico Madrid (2019-24), arrived in the Italian capital on Sunday to pass the relevant medical tests.
Hermoso started out in the Real Madrid youth academy. Since beginning his senior career, he has played for Real Valladolid, Espanyol, and Atletico Madrid, where he has remained for the past five seasons. He won La Liga with Diego Simeone’s side in the 2020/21 season and also has Champions League experience.
The player has chosen the number 22 on his shirt and after joining Roma, he becomes the 18th Spanish player to play for the Italian first team.​
