Atletico Madrid and Porto announced in the early hours of Saturday morning the transfer of Samu Omorodion in a complex deal. The Portuguese side have taken 50% of the player's transfer in a deal worth 15 million euros, although they have a further option to buy more over the next two summers.

After several weeks of negotiations in Europe, Atletico Madrid have found a destination for Samu Omorodion. After just one year of ownership and without ever having worn the Rojiblanca shirt, the promising 20-year-old striker has moved to Porto and signed a contract until 30 June 2029. This was officially announced by both entities in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Thanks to the fact that Portugal is obliged to publish almost detailed figures on transfers, we have been able to find out instantly the bizarre way in which Atletico have moved Omorodion. Porto have taken over the sporting rights and 50% of the striker's economic rights for 15 million euros. Afterwards, the ‘Dragoes’ reserve two more windows to acquire a higher percentage of the Melilla native player.
Specifically, Porto will be able to acquire 15% until July 2025 and another 15% until July 2026 for five million euros each, so that the Portuguese could have 80% of the economic benefits of the player. The other 20 per cent would still go to Atletico Madrid, who could receive a total of 25 million euros for the striker, who has barely set foot in the red and white dressing room. After a year on loan at Alaves, he left on a training camp for the Olympics and on his return he has been training until a way out was found for him.
The Portuguese club have also set a 100 million euro release clause for Omorodion, a player who only a year ago was unknown to the top flight and who now appears to be one of Europe's most promising talents. The Portuguese have ended up being the most experienced after the striker's transfer to Chelsea fell through.
