Manuel Ugarte has officially signed for Paris Saint-Germain. The Uruguayan midfielder will wear the red and blue colours until 2028. PSG have paid his €60 million release clause.
The Uruguayan arrived in the French capital in the company of his agent, Jorge Mendes, to undergo a medical, and signed his contract at the start of June, before being officially announced on Friday.
According to 'L'Equipe', he is expected to earn a salary of around €3 million a year. Until recently, Chelsea were in the race to secure his services, but the London club reportedly left the way clear by withdrawing from the bidding. In any case, the player's main intention was to join Paris Saint-Germain.
Born in Uruguay in 2001, Ugarte arrived in Europe in 2021, joining Famalicao before moving to Sporting Portugal eight months later. He made 85 appearances in all competitions over two seasons with the Lions.
