There is an exodus going on at Real Madrid on Saturday. Having already confirmed the departures of Asensio and later Mariano Diaz, 'Los Blancos' have now announced that Eden Hazard is leaving the club.
The Belgian player, despite having expressed his interest in fulfilling his contract expiring in 2024, ends his four-season contract with the 'Merengues'.
The former Chelsea player joined Real Madrid in 2019 from the Blues, where he had established himself as one of the best players in the world. However, the Belgian has not been able to succeed at the Spanish club mainly because of several injuries that have not prevented him from performing at his best.
Despite this, the 'Merengues' board did not lose faith in him and did not think about finding him a new club or terminating his contract in previous seasons. However, the player has gradually dropped down the pecking order and finally, after this season in which he has clearly not counted at all for Ancelotti, the club have decided it was time to part ways.
"Real Madrid C.F. and Eden Hazard have reached an agreement whereby the player will leave the club after 30th June 2023. Eden Hazard has been part of our club for four seasons, in which he has won 8 titles: 1 European Cup, 1 Club World Cup, 1 European Super Cup, 2 La Liga titles, 1 Copa del Rey and 2 Spanish Super Cups," reads the statement.
"Real Madrid would like to express their affection to Eden Hazard and wishes him and his family the best of luck in this new stage," it concludes.
