Although it has not yet finished registering all their players in La Liga, Real Valladolid are still fine-tuning their squad for the 2024-25 season. In recent days, there had been speculation that Mario Martin would join Real Valladolid and this signing is now a reality.
The Spanish side have confirmed the arrival of the young player from the Real Madrid youth academy, who will play on loan for the newly promoted side until 2025.
A youth international with the Spanish national team, the 20-year-old has already surprised Real Madrid fans with his high level in the pre-season and the ‘Merengue’ team has seen that this could be a good opportunity for the player to continue to grow in the Valladolid side.
Born in Sonseca (Toledo), Mario Martin played for Sonseca, Toledo and Odelot Toletum before joining Real Madrid at a very young age. He joined Real Madrid as a youth player and later won the Copa del Rey Juvenil as a stepping stone to his move to the 'Merengues' reserve team.
Mario Martin made his debut with the Real Madrid first team in the 2022-23 season in a Copa del Rey match against Atletico Madrid, which 'Los Blancos' won in extra time (3-1). In the last 2023-24 season, he also played 3 more games as a ‘Merengue’, against Arandina in the Copa del Rey (1-3 win), against Deportivo Alaves in La Liga (5-0 win) and against Villarreal in the penultimate match of the championship (4-4).
In the recent pre-season, the midfielder was a starter and played the whole game against Milan as well as in 'El Clasico’ against Barcelona and in the match against Chelsea. His good performances aroused interest in La Liga and Real Valladolid have taken advantage of the good relationship that Ronaldo Nazario has with Florentino Perez to get ahead of other clubs when it comes to closing the deal.
