Roma have confirmed in an official statement that they have exercised their option to buy Angelino from Red Bull Leipzig. The Italian club will pay 5 million euros to the German club to sign the Spaniard until 2028.

In a matter of hours, Red Bull has completed two moves: the first is the purchase of a minority stake in Leeds United. The second, confirmed on Monday morning, is the sale of Angelino to Roma for 5 million euros. The ‘Giallorossi’ have exercised the option to buy that came with the agreement reached between the parties in January for him to leave Galatasaray and move, on loan, to Serie A.
Why did the Spaniard leave his adventure in the Turkish League after just six months there? Because there was a clause whereby, in the event of reaching 20 games played, SK had to buy him for 6 million, which the club did not want to know about. This is precisely why he missed a few games at the end of last year even though, for his coach, he had earned a key position.
Already under Daniele de Rossi in the big leagues again, he repeated the dynamic and earned himself a long-term contract. Although the length of the contract is not stated in the Italian side's statement, the media in his homeland has leaked that his contract runs until 2028. It is also claimed that the full-back has agreed to reduce his salary by around half, confirming his desire to tackle this stage of his career.
It is interesting how Angelino, despite being pivotal in every team he has played for, has never enjoyed stability for more than three seasons. He came through the ranks at Manchester City and had spells at Mallorca, NAC Breda, PSV and Hoffenheim, as well as the aforementioned RB Leipzig, who owned him until now, and Galatasaray, who were a gateway out of the European top flight. With his newly confirmed signing, Roma are opening the door
