Shocking news in Italy, as Roma take the drastic decision to sack Daniele De Rossi from the manager position following the club's poor start to the season. De Rossi will, therefore, not continue with the club as head coach. The manager, who already had an underwhelming end to the last season, has not been able to get up to speed at the start of the following one.
"As Roma announces the dismissal of Daniele De Rossi from the role of first team head coach. The decision taken has team's best interest in mind, to allow to swiftly get back on track in a period where the season has only just started. We thank Daniele for all his hard and dedicated work these past months. He can always count Roma as his home. News will follow regarding the management direction".
And so, De Rossi's journey with the 'Giallorossi' abruptly comes to an end, after Roma had put faith in him following his first coaching experience with Serie B side SPAL. What remains certain is that his first months in charge of the team in the 2023-2024 had plenty of highlights, with positive results and performances, as he reached the semi-finals of the Europa League before getting eliminated by Xabi Alonso's Bayer Leverkusen.
The same cannot be said for his start to the 2024-2025 season, as he only managed to collect 3 points in 4 games. The side drew (0-0) with Cagliari in their opening match, followed by a defeat (2-1) at Empoli, a draw (0-0) against Juventus, and one final draw (1-1) in his match against Genoa at home, before his dismissal was announced three days later.
