Tottenham Hotspur made official on Saturday the signing of forward Dominic Solanke for 65 million pounds (75 million euros) from Andoni Iraola's Bournemouth. Spurs will fork out 55 million pounds in the first payment and another 10 million in variables.
The England striker has signed a six-year contract until 2030 and will join the London club immediately, with their Premier League opener against newly promoted Leicester City just a week away.
Solanke, who trained in Chelsea's academy, was signed by Liverpool in 2017 at the end of his contract with the Blues but failed to gel at Anfield, where he left in 2019 for Bournemouth. He posted his best Premier League stats with the Cherries, scoring 19 goals last campaign.
Solanke's arrival at Tottenham fills the need for a No.9 since the departure of Harry Kane a year ago. Spurs used South Korea's Heung-min Son and Brazilian Richarlison in that position last season but needed a reinforcement in attack to replace England's top scorer.
